Summary: Good for hiking but NOT WaterPROOF 2010-06-04
Comment: These are a real comfortable, yet quite warm (in the summer) hiking shoe with great traction. However they are NOT Waterproof by any stretch. I wear these while hiking with my dog daily in the cool of the morning and within 10 minutes, I can feel the dew leaking into my socks through the seams in the shoe. The fabric may very well be waterproof, but the seams are evidently leaking. I've even sprayed them with waterproof sealant to attempt to minimize the seepage to no avail. By the end of our walk my socks are soaked from the dew that has leaked in. If you want a comfortable hiking sneaker, these are great, but do NOT purchase them if you are looking for a WATERPROOF hiking shoe, because they aren't.

Summary: Decent but not durable 2010-03-21
Comment: I am an avid hiker and climber who has worn Merrell shoes for years. I have worn Merrels on easy day hikes as well as week long trail hikes and hiking the White mountains. I have tried several pairs and in general, they are good, comfortable shoes that always seem to do the job. Unfortunately, they are not durable. I gave them plenty of time to prove themselves and they always begin to show significant problems very early. I do not like having to replace my shoes a couple times a year. Stitches open, inside materials begin to separate, layers separate which leads to noisy squeaks, and holes develop. I want them to work, but I just cannot buy another pair unless Merrell makes significant quality improvements. They are also sized more than a half size small.

Summary: Great Boots 2010-03-05
Comment: Was skeptical of Merrell Brand, but reviews here convinced me to give these boots a try and what an endorsement that turned out to be.
Purchased for winter hiking in Yosemite. They did not disappoint.
As comfortable the first time out as if I had worn them for years. Kept my feet dry and warm and that's just the bonus. On rocky, inclined, wet and one day snowy tracts, these boots held their ground and gave me great support and reliable traction.
With quality like this, I'm ashamed to not have discovered Merrell's sooner. MY Rockports and North Face gear are comparable, but the Merrell price, quality and workmanship have made a believer out of me.

Summary: Order a size up 2009-05-17
Comment: Great looking, comfortable, and work great on the trails, but I had to order a size up from my dress-shoe size to get a proper fit.
